MindEdge, Inc. Announces Free Availability of Online Courses
Colleges and Universities Affected by Recent Hurricanes will Benefit
November 15, 2005
MindEdge, Inc., a leading provider of online higher and corporate education programs to colleges and universities, today announced it will make its library of online courses available to schools affected by recent natural disasters, waiving its customary content license and enrollment fees.
MindEdge provides robust academic content on an easy-to-use technology platform used by many colleges and universities across the US and Canada. These complete, academically-vetted courses cover the areas of Arts and Sciences, Business and Management, Health Sciences, and Information Technology. The courses are currently licensed by undergraduate two and four year colleges and universities and contain up to 12 to 14 weeks of instructor-facilitated content.
“This offering is an attempt to assist colleges and universities who have seen their academic programs interrupted or even devastated by these natural catastrophes,” said D. Quinn Mills, MindEdge Chairman and the Albert J. Weatherhead, Jr. Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. “If schools and colleges in affected regions can get online courses up and running quickly, they can continue the process of educating students whose campuses are now inaccessible.”
The courses will be offered as-is to two and four year colleges and universities in need in Federally-declared disaster areas experiencing academic disruption from hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. The content license and enrollment fees normally charged to the college and university will be waived. Modest technology fees and textbook costs will remain the responsibility of students.
The free content offer will remain in effect throughout 2005 and the spring term of 2006.
